Bhīma’s Rebuttal of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Renunciatory Inclination
vayaṁ hi bāhubalinaḥ kṛtavidyā manasvinaḥ | klībasya vākye tiṣṭhāmo yathaivāśaktayas tathā ||
Mere strength and skill are ethically empty if they submit to cowardice or unjust restraint; dharma for a warrior-minded person demands resolute, rightful action rather than passive obedience to fear.
Bhima vents indignation that, despite the Pandavas’ power and training, they are living as if helpless—bound by the command or influence of a ‘cowardly’ figure—signaling frustration with inaction and a push toward decisive conduct.
