Educational Q&A

The passage highlights disciplined leadership and the ethics of restraint in war: even when many champions surge forward in competitive zeal, Bhīma checks them to preserve the intended duel and to keep the battle within agreed bounds. It also frames combat under the larger moral-metaphysical horizon of Kāla (Time), suggesting that prowess operates within an inexorable order beyond individual will.

After a heavy blow, the Kuru champion (contextually Duryodhana in the club-duel) drops to his knees. Nakula, Sahadeva, Dṛṣṭadyumna, and Sātyaki rush in, each claiming the fight and moving to attack him. Bhīma restrains them and himself advances again against Duryodhana, moving unshaken like Indra pursuing Namuci.
