उन्मत्तमिव मातज्ुं तलशब्देन मानवा: । भूय: संहर्षयामासू राजन् दुर्योधनं नृपम्,राजन! जैसे मतवाले हाथीको मनुष्य ताली बजाकर कुपित कर देते हैं, उसी प्रकार उन्होंने बारंबार ताल ठोककर राजा दुर्योधनके युद्धविषयक हर्ष और उत्साहको बढ़ाया
unmattam iva mātaṅgaṃ talaśabdena mānavāḥ | bhūyaḥ saṃharṣayāmāsu rājann duryodhanaṃ nṛpam ||
王よ、人々が大きな手拍子で発情期の狂象を煽り立てるように、彼らは幾度も掌を打ち鳴らし、その喧噪によってドゥルヨーダナ王の戦の歓喜と闘争への渇望をいよいよ燃え上がらせた。これは、世の喝采がダルマの限界ぎりぎりで無謀な驕りを養うさまを示す譬えである。
