अध्याय ३: कृपस्य दुर्योधनं प्रति नीत्युपदेशः

आरुह्य जवसम्पन्ना: पादातान् प्रजहुर्भयात् । कुछ महारथी भयके मारे घोड़ोंपर, दूसरे लोग हाथियोंपर और कुछ लोग रथोंपर आरूढ़ हो पैदलोंको वहीं छोड़ बड़े वेगसे भागे
āruhya javasampannāḥ pādātān prajahur bhayāt |
サンジャヤは言った。恐怖に打たれた戦士たちは、俊足の馬にまたがり、歩兵をその場に置き去りにして、凄まじい速さで逃げ去った。この光景は、戦場において恐慌が規律と忠義をいかに断ち切るかを示す。生き延びたいという思いが、戦友と共に踏みとどまる義務を凌駕するのである。
