शल्यपर्व — चतुर्विंशोऽध्यायः | Śalya Parva, Chapter 24: Disruption of Kaurava Formations and the Elephant Encirclement
yo hi śrutvā vacaḥ pathyaṃ jāmadagnyād yathātatham | avāmanyata durbuddhir dhruvaṃ nāśamukhe sthitaḥ ||

Disregarding truthful, beneficial counsel—especially from a respected authority—reveals moral blindness (durbuddhi) and becomes a direct cause and sign of impending ruin. Ethical wisdom must be received with humility; contempt for it accelerates downfall.
Sañjaya, narrating events to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, reflects that Vidura’s earlier assessment is proving true: the ill-minded person who ignored Paraśurāma’s accurate and salutary words has effectively placed himself on the brink of destruction.
