शल्यपर्व — चतुर्विंशोऽध्यायः | Śalya Parva, Chapter 24: Disruption of Kaurava Formations and the Elephant Encirclement
“मधुकुलभूषण! भीष्मजीने जो सच्ची और हितकर बात बतायी थी, उसे भी उस बुद्धिहीन दुर्योधनने नहीं माना ।।
sañjaya uvāca | madhukula-bhūṣaṇa! bhīṣmeṇa yā satyā hitakarī ca vāk proktā, tām api sa buddhihīno duryodhanaḥ nābhyagṛhṇāt || tasmiṃs tu tumule bhīṣme pracyute dharaṇītale | na jāne kāraṇaṃ kiṃ tu yena yuddham avartata ||
サンジャヤは言った。「おおマドゥ族の誉れよ！ ビーシュマが語った真実にして益ある諫言さえ、無分別なドゥルヨーダナは受け入れなかった。そして、あの恐るべき喧騒のただ中でビーシュマが大地に倒れ伏した後でさえ、いかなる因縁によって戦がなお続いたのか、私にはいまだ見定められぬ。」
