शल्यवधे कौरवसेनाभङ्गः, भीमस्य गदायुद्धं, दुर्योधनस्य समाह्वानम्

न चास्य शासन केचित्तत्र चक्रुर्महारथा: । दुर्योधनने उन वीरोंको सान्त्वना देते हुए बहुत मना किया, किंतु वहाँ किन्हीं महारथियोंने उसकी इस आज्ञाका पालन नहीं किया

na cāsya śāsanaṃ kecit tatra cakrur mahārathāḥ |

サञ्जयは語った。「しかし、その場の大車戦士(マハーラタ)たちは、誰ひとりとして彼の命令を実行しなかった。ドゥルヨーダナは勇士たちを抑え、慰めようと懸命に努めたが、彼らは従わなかった――戦の熱の中では、個の決意と武人の矜持が、王の命令すら凌ぐことを示している。」
