Aśvatthāman’s Curse, Parikṣit’s Future, and the Mani’s Restitution
परिक्षिन्नाम नृपतिर्मिषतस्ते सुदुर्मते । दुर्मते! इसके बाद तेरे देखते-देखते महाबाहु कुरुराज परीक्षित् ही इस भूमण्डलका सम्राट् होगा
parikṣinnāma nṛpatir miṣatas te sudurmate | durmate! iṣke bāda tere dekhate-dekhate mahābāhu kururāja parīkṣit hi asya bhūmaṇḍalasya samrāṭ bhaviṣyati ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。「パリークシトという名の王が興るであろう――汝、まことに愚かに迷える者よ、ただ無力に見守るほかないままに。しかも汝が見ているその間に、強き腕をもつクル族の王子パリークシトが、この全地の覇者となるのだ。」
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores moral causality and the endurance of rightful order: despite the schemes of the misguided, dharmic succession and legitimate kingship will prevail, and the Kuru line will be restored through Parīkṣit.
Vaiśampāyana delivers a pointed declaration/foreshadowing: even as the addressed wrongdoer watches, Parīkṣit—described as a mighty-armed Kuru prince—will become the emperor of the whole earth.
