Educational Q&A

The verse condemns cruelty and ignoble conduct, asserting that violating a woman’s dignity is a grave adharma. It frames such an act as intolerable to righteous protectors, emphasizing that power or even divine backing cannot ethically justify humiliation and violence.

In the Kuru assembly, Draupadī is being dragged and threatened with disrobing by Duḥśāsana. She protests, calling his act cruel and unworthy, and warns that the Pāṇḍava princes will not endure this outrage—even if the gods led by Indra were to support him.
