सभा-पर्व, अध्याय ६१ — द्रौपदी-प्रश्नः, सभाधर्मः, सत्यवचन-नियमः
सुदान्ता राजवहना: सर्वशब्दक्षमा युधि । ईषादन्ता महाकाया: सर्वे चाष्टकरेणव:,युधिष्ठिरने कहा--मेरे पास दस हजार श्रेष्ठ रथ और छकड़े हैं। जिनमें छोटे-बड़े वाहन सदा जुटे ही रहते हैं ।।
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca |
sudāntā rājavahanāḥ sarvaśabdakṣamā yudhi |
īṣādantā mahākāyāḥ sarve cāṣṭakareṇavaḥ |
evaṃ varṇasya varṇasya samuccīya sahasraśaḥ |
yathā samuditā vīrāḥ sarve vīraparākramāḥ ||
ユディシュティラは言った。「我にはよく鍛えられた王家の乗り物—戦車と車—がある。戦場の混み合うただ中でも、いかなる号令にも耐えうる。轅は堅く、車体は巨大で、いずれも八頭立てにふさわしい。さらに、各ヴァルナ(身分)から選び抜かれた戦士が幾千と集められ、我がもとで養われている—皆、武勇の確かな者、英雄の威力を備えた勇士である。」
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse highlights the responsibilities of kingship: disciplined resources (well-trained conveyances) and organized manpower (selected warriors from all social orders) are presented as foundations of effective rule. Ethically, it implies that power should rest on order, training, and accountable stewardship rather than impulse.
Yudhiṣṭhira is describing the scale and readiness of his establishment—his vehicles and the large, assembled body of capable warriors—emphasizing that he possesses substantial, well-organized military and logistical strength.
