सभा-पर्व, अध्याय ६१ — द्रौपदी-प्रश्नः, सभाधर्मः, सत्यवचन-नियमः
सुदान्ता राजवहना: सर्वशब्दक्षमा युधि । ईषादन्ता महाकाया: सर्वे चाष्टकरेणव:,युधिष्ठिरने कहा--मेरे पास दस हजार श्रेष्ठ रथ और छकड़े हैं। जिनमें छोटे-बड़े वाहन सदा जुटे ही रहते हैं ।।
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca |
sudāntā rājavahanāḥ sarvaśabdakṣamā yudhi |
īṣādantā mahākāyāḥ sarve cāṣṭakareṇavaḥ |
evaṃ varṇasya varṇasya samuccīya sahasraśaḥ |
yathā samuditā vīrāḥ sarve vīraparākramāḥ ||
ユディシュティラは言った。「我にはよく鍛えられた王家の乗り物—戦車と車—がある。戦場の混み合うただ中でも、いかなる号令にも耐えうる。轅は堅く、車体は巨大で、いずれも八頭立てにふさわしい。さらに、各ヴァルナ（身分）から選び抜かれた戦士が幾千と集められ、我がもとで養われている—皆、武勇の確かな者、英雄の威力を備えた勇士である。」
