Adhyāya 31: Rājasūya-samāgama — The Gathering of Kings and the Ordering of Hospitality
अपांगर्भ महासत्त्व जातवेद: सुरेश्वर । देवानां मुखमग्ने त्वं सत्येन विपुनीहि माम्
apāṅgarbha mahāsattva jātavedaḥ sureśvara | devānāṃ mukham agne tvaṃ satyena vipunīhi mām ||
サハデーヴァは言った。「おおアグニよ――本質において偉大なる力を備え、ジャータヴェーダス、神々の中の主よ。あなたはまさしく諸神の口である。あなたの真実の力によって、我を清めたまえ。」
सहदेव उवाच
Truth (satya) is presented as a purifying force, and Agni—who carries offerings as the ‘mouth of the gods’—is invoked as the divine witness and cleanser, emphasizing ethical integrity and ritual purity.
Sahadeva addresses Agni with Vedic epithets and asks to be purified through Agni’s truth, framing a solemn, witness-invocation moment where moral credibility and purity are sought before a consequential act or declaration.
