सर्वैरपि गुणैर्युक्तो निर्वीर्य: कि करिष्यति । गुणीभूता गुणा: सर्वे तिष्ठन्ति हि पराक्रमे,जो निर्बल है, वह सर्वगुणसम्पन्न होकर भी क्‍या करेगा? पराक्रममें सभी गुण उसके अंग बनकर रहते हैं

sarvair api guṇair yukto nirvīryaḥ kiṁ kariṣyati | guṇībhūtā guṇāḥ sarve tiṣṭhanti hi parākrame ||

アルジュナは言った。「たとえあらゆる徳を備えていようとも、力と気力を欠けば何を成し遂げられようか。諸々の徳が真に効力を得て立つのは武勇においてである――勇気と自発の働きがあれば、他の資質はその手足となり道具となるのだ。」
