वैशम्पायन उवाच
Affection and friendship are sustained by dharmic conduct: respectful service (upāsanā) and humility. Even among equals, one may honor a worthy person 'like a guru,' showing that ethical relationships are expressed through disciplined care and reverence.
The person being described feels joy due to the loving presence of a close friend. Arjuna and the twin brothers Nakula and Sahadeva then attend upon him respectfully, serving and honoring him in a manner comparable to serving a teacher.
