Pitāmaha-sabhā-varṇana & Hariścandra-māhātmya
Description of Brahmā’s Assembly and the Eminence of Hariścandra
śrutvā guṇān ahaṃ tasyāḥ sabhāyāḥ pāṇḍavarṣabha | darśanepsus tathā rājann ādityam idam abruvam ||
The verse highlights how genuine excellence (guṇa) naturally inspires a desire for direct experience (darśana), and how a seeker may appropriately approach higher authorities—here, the Sun-god—through respectful speech to fulfill a worthy aspiration.
Nārada tells Yudhiṣṭhira that after hearing about the marvelous qualities of the Pāṇḍavas’ assembly-hall, he became eager to see it and therefore addressed Āditya (the Sun) to obtain the chance to behold it.
