Vasudeva–Arjuna Dialogue in the Aftermath of Dvārakā
नियति तु जने तस्मिन् सागरो मकरालय: । द्वारकां रत्नसम्पूर्णा जलेनाप्लावयत् तदा,उस जनसमुदायके निकलते ही मगरों और घड़ियालोंके निवासस्थान समुद्रने रत्नोंसे भरी-पूरी द्वारका नगरीको जलसे डुबो दिया
niyati tu jane tasmin sāgaro makarālayaḥ | dvārakāṃ ratnasampūrṇāṃ jalena aplāvayat tadā ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った――その民が去るや否や、ニヤティ（定め）に駆られて、マカラの棲み処たる大海は、宝玉に満ちた都ドヴァーラカーを水で覆い、波間に沈めた。この詩句は、いかに絢爛たる人の営みも、抗しがたい運命の力によってついには崩れ去ることを示している。
