संजय कहते हैं--राजन्! जब कर्ण मारा गया और शत्रुसेना भाग चली, तब दशाहईनन्दन भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण अर्जुनको हृदयसे लगाकर बड़े हर्षके साथ इस प्रकार बोले --
sañjaya uvāca—rājan! yadā karṇo hataḥ śatrusenā ca palāyitā, tadā daśārhanandano bhagavān śrīkṛṣṇo ’rjunaṃ hṛdayena pariṣvajya mahāharṣeṇaivam uvāca—
サンジャヤは言った――王よ! カルナが討たれ、敵軍が崩れて逃げ散ったとき、至福なる主シュリー・クリシュナ――ダシャールハ族の歓び――はアルジュナを胸に抱き寄せ、心より抱擁して、大いなる歓喜のうちにこのように語った――。
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic companionship and moral gravity in warfare: even in victory, the righteous leader (Kṛṣṇa) responds with intimate support and measured joy, signaling relief after danger and the responsibility that follows decisive triumph.
After Karna’s death, the opposing forces lose cohesion and flee. Kṛṣṇa, identified by his clan epithet Daśārhanandana, embraces Arjuna and begins to speak—setting up the next lines that interpret the moment and its significance in the battle.
