राज्यलुब्ध: पुन: कर्ण समाव्यथसि पाण्डवान् । यदा शकुनिम॒श्रित्य क्व ते धर्मस्तदा गत:
rājyalubdhaḥ punaḥ karṇa samāvyathasi pāṇḍavān | yadā śakunim āśritya kva te dharmas tadā gataḥ ||
サンジャヤは言った。「王権への貪欲に目をくらまされて、カルナよ、お前は再びパーンダヴァたちを苦しめる。シャクニの策に身を寄せたその時、お前のダルマはどこへ消えたのだ?」
संजय उवाच
The verse condemns political greed and the surrender of moral judgment to corrupt influence: when one relies on deceitful counsel (Śakuni), dharma is abandoned, and harm to others follows.
Sañjaya rebukes Karṇa for repeatedly oppressing the Pāṇḍavas out of desire for royal power, and he pointedly asks where Karṇa’s sense of righteousness went when he aligned himself with Śakuni’s guidance.
