प्रभग्नं च बल॑ दृष्टवा वध्यमानं महारथै: । पराड्मुखांश्व राज्ञस्तु पलायनपरायणान्‌

Transliteration

prabhagnaṃ ca balaṃ dṛṣṭvā vadhyamānaṃ mahārathaiḥ | parāṅmukhāṃś ca rājñas tu palāyanaparāyaṇān ||

Translation

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。大軍が粉砕され、偉大なる戦車武者たちに斬り伏せられてゆくのを見、また諸王が顔を背け、ただ逃走のみを念じているのを見て——（戦の圧迫のただ中で、決意が崩れ落ちるさまを彼は見届けた）。
