अध्याय ९ — कर्णस्य प्रहारः, योधयुग्मनियोजनम्, शैनेय-कैकेययोर्युद्धविन्यासः
तदिदं समनुप्राप्तं वचन दीर्घदर्शिन: । उनकी इस बातको न माननेके कारण अवश्य ही मेरा पुत्र शोक कर रहा है। दूरदर्शी भीष्मजीकी वह बात आज सफल होकर सामने आयी है
tad idaṃ samanupprāptaṃ vacanaṃ dīrghadarśinaḥ |
ドリタラーシュトラは思う。かつて遠見の賢者が語った忠告が、いまや自らの眼前で成就してしまったのだ。息子がその言葉を受け入れなかったがゆえに、彼は避けがたく悲嘆に焼かれている。智者ビーシュマの警めは、戦の苛烈な現実の中で真実と証された。
