घ्नतोस्तथान्योन्यमिषुप्रवेकै- रधनंजयस्याधिरयथेश्ष तत्र । उस समय वहाँ अर्जुन और कर्ण उत्तम बाणोंद्वारा एक-दूसरेको चोट पहुँचा रहे थे। उनके धनुष, प्रत्यंचा और हथेलीका संघर्ष बड़ा भयंकर होता जा रहा था और उससे उत्तमोत्तम बाण छूट रहे थे || ७३ $ ।। ततो धनुर्ज्या सहसातिकृष्टा सुघोषमच्छिद्यत पाण्डवस्य

サンジャヤは言った。そこではダナンジャヤ（アルジュナ）とアディラタの子（カルナ）が、卓絶した貫通の矢で互いを射て傷つけていた。彼らの争いは——弓と弓、弦と弦、手と手がぶつかり合うほどに——ますます凄惨となり、そのただ中から最上の矢の雨が飛び交った。やがてパーンダヴァが弦を突如強く引き絞ると、弦は鋭く響く音を立てて断ち切れた——戦においては、技も勇も、張り詰めた力、偶然、そして選び取った怨敵関係の容赦ない帰結によって試されることを示していた。
