कर्णस्याशीविषनि भा रत्नसारमयी दृढा । पुरन्दरधनु:प्रख्या हस्तिकक्ष्या व्ययाजत,कर्णके ध्वजकी पताकामें हाथीकी साँकलका चिह्न था, वह साँकल रत्नसारमयी, सुदृढ़ और विषधर सर्पके समान आकारवाली थी। वह आकाशमें इन्द्रधनुषके समान शोभा पाती थी
karṇasyāśīviṣanibhā ratnasāramayī dṛḍhā | purandaradhanuḥprakhyā hastikakṣyā vyayājata ||
サञ्जयは語った。カルナの旗には、象の胴締めにも似た鎖状の徽が輝いていた。宝玉の精髄より成り、堅牢にして屈せず、毒蛇のごとく巻き、天空のインドラの弓（虹）のように燦然としていた。それは、正義でありながらも苛烈に世を砕く戦のただ中で、カルナの軍旗の栄華と武の矜持を告げていた。
