tatrākrando mahān āsīt pāñcālānāṃ mahāraṇe
サञ्जयは言った。そこでは大戦のただ中、パンチャーラ軍から大いなる慟哭が湧き起こった――それは戦の人間的代償と、武器の激突の中で共同体が砕け散るさまを刻む、痛切な叫びであった。
संजय उवाच
Even when war is framed as duty, its immediate reality is grief: the verse foregrounds collective suffering, reminding the listener that dharma in conflict carries tragic human consequences.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that, at that point in the great battle, the Pāñcālas raised a tremendous cry—suggesting heavy losses or a sudden calamity befalling their side.
