The Karṇa–Arjuna Confrontation
Cosmic Spectatorship and Vows
sarvalokavahāṁ raudrāṁ paralokavahāṁ nadīm | sa-rathān rathinaḥ sarvān pārtha-cāpa-cyutaiḥ śaraiḥ ||

The verse highlights the grave ethical reality of righteous war: even when performed as a warrior’s duty, combat produces irreversible suffering and death, symbolized by a ‘river’ that sweeps beings from this world to the next.
Sañjaya describes Arjuna’s devastating assault: with arrows shot from his bow, he destroys the chariot-warriors along with their chariots, creating a horrific scene likened to a blood-river on the battlefield.
