परित्यज्य प्रियानन्ये बान्धवान् बान्धवप्रिया: । व्युत्क्रान्ता: समदृश्यन्त तत्र तत्र महारणे
sañjaya uvāca | parityajya priyān anye bāndhavān bāndhavapriyāḥ | vyutkrāntāḥ samadṛśyanta tatra tatra mahāraṇe ||
サञ्जयは語った。広大にして凄惨なるその大戦において、親族への深い愛着を抱きながらも、愛する身内を後に残して、ここかしこに命を失い倒れ伏す者どもが見えた。戦は最も堅固な情愛の絆さえ断ち切り、家族への愛を嘆きと無力へと変え、生命と義務が崩れ落ちるさまを露わにするのである。
