サンジャヤは言った。「全軍の目前で――そしてあなた方が見守るそのさなかに――武器を捨てた我が父は、ドゥリシュタデュムナによって討ち倒された。」

The verse highlights accountability in warfare: even amid battle, killing someone who has laid down arms is portrayed as ethically condemnable. By stressing that it happened “in everyone’s sight,” the text frames dharma not only as personal conduct but as a public moral order witnessed and judged.
Sañjaya reports to the Kuru side that his father was killed by Dhṛṣṭadyumna despite being disarmed. The statement functions as a lament and an accusation, emphasizing that the act occurred openly before both armies and the leaders who were watching.
