कुरूणां पाण्डवानां च लिप्सतां सुमहद् यश: । प्रजानाथ! फिर महान् यश पानेकी इच्छावाले कौरवों और पाण्डवोंमें घोर युद्ध आरम्भ हो गया || ७४ $ ।। शूराणां गर्जतां तत्र ह्विच्छेदकृता गिर:
sañjaya uvāca |
kurūṇāṃ pāṇḍavānāṃ ca lipsatāṃ sumahad yaśaḥ |
prajānātha! tataḥ mahad yaśaḥ prāptum icchatāṃ kauravāṇāṃ pāṇḍavānāṃ ca ghoraṃ yuddham ārabdhaṃ ||
śūrāṇāṃ garjatāṃ tatra hṛcchhedakṛtā giraḥ ||
サンジャヤは言った。「民の主よ！ そののち、甚だしい名声を求めるカウラヴァとパーンダヴァの間に、恐るべき戦が始まった。そこでは勇士たちの咆哮と叫びが、胸を断つ言葉のように戦場に鳴り響いた。」
