The verse highlights how collective emotion and intention in war become audible: instruments and battle-cries intensify courage and aggression. Ethically, it underscores the gravity of entering violence—once the martial momentum rises, restraint becomes harder, so responsibility for choosing war is weighty.
Sañjaya reports to the king that the battlefield suddenly fills with the din of diverse war-instruments and the lion-like roars of warriors challenging one another, indicating that the armies are surging toward heightened engagement.
