Karṇa’s Bhārgavāstra and the Search for Yudhiṣṭhira
Chapter 45
vyadhamat pāṇḍavīṁ senām āsurīṁ maghavān iva | yudhiṣṭhiraṁ cābhyahanad apasavyaṁ cakāra ha ||
The verse highlights how, in war, even the dharmic side can be driven into distress by sheer martial force and adverse omens; it invites reflection on the fragility of worldly advantage and the ethical strain placed on righteousness amid violence.
Sañjaya reports that the warrior being described routs the Pāṇḍava forces like Indra defeating Asuras, then directly strikes Yudhiṣṭhira and compels him into an apasavya (leftward, inauspicious) movement, signaling a moment of setback and foreboding.
