Chapter 45
तमन्वयान्महाराज स्वयं दुर्योधनो नूप:
tam anvayān mahārāja svayaṃ duryodhano nūpaḥ | aśobhat mahārāja devair iva śatakratuḥ ||
サンジャヤは言った。「大王よ、統べる者ドゥルヨーダナ自らが後に続いた。奇妙多彩な武器と鎧を帯びた同母兄弟たち、さらに共に来援したマドラとケーカヤの大勇士らに守られ、その時の彼は、大王よ、神々に囲まれたインドラ(シャタクラトゥ)のごとく輝いていた。」
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the outward splendor of royal power—Duryodhana appears glorious when backed by brothers and allied warriors—while implicitly warning that such brilliance can be rooted in pride and dependence on force rather than righteousness.
Sañjaya describes Duryodhana proceeding behind (in the wake of) his forces, protected by his brothers and allied Madra and Kekaya heroes, and compares his appearance to Indra surrounded by the gods.
