Karṇa’s Pressure on the Pāñcālas; Duryodhana Disabled; Arjuna’s Counter-Advance
हंसस्य पतितं काको बलवानाशुविक्रम: । तब वहाँ आये हुए सारे कौए जोर-जोरसे हँसने लगे और आपसमें बोले--“भला यह हंस एक ही उड़ानसे सौ प्रकारकी उड़ानोंको कैसे जीत सकता है? यह कौआ बलवान् और शीघ्रतापूर्वक उड़नेवाला है; अतः सौमेंसे एक ही उड़ानद्वारा हंसकी उड़ानको पराजित कर देगा'
haṃsasya patitaṃ kāko balavān āśu-vikramaḥ |
「一羽の烏が白鳥に襲いかかった——力強く、攻め入りもまた迅速である。」すると、そこに集まった烏たちは声高く笑い、互いに言い合った。「この白鳥が、ただ一つの飛び方で、百の飛び方にどうして勝てようか。あの烏は強く、動きも速い。ゆえに百のうちの一つの飛び方だけで、白鳥の飛びを打ち負かすであろう。」
