प्राज्लस्थ मूढस्य च जीवितान्ते नास्ति प्रमोक्षो5न्तकसत्कृतस्य । अतो विद्वन्नभियास्यामि पार्थान् दिष्टं न शक््यं व्यतिवर्तितुं वै
sañjaya uvāca |
prājlasta mūḍhasya ca jīvitānte nāsti pramokṣo ’ntakasatkṛtasya |
ato vidvann abhiyāsyāmi pārthān diṣṭaṃ na śakyaṃ vyativartituṃ vai ||
サンジャヤは言った。「賢者であれ迷える者であれ、命が尽きる時、死（アンタカ）が各々を相応に迎え取るのを免れる道はない。ゆえに、学識ある者よ、私は必ずやパールタたち—クンティーの子ら—へ進軍する。まことに、運命に定められたものは覆し得ぬ。」
