The verse highlights how the fall of a central moral and strategic pillar (Droṇa) can collapse confidence and clarity in an army’s leadership, showing that inner steadiness is as decisive as weapons in war.
After Droṇa’s death, Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the Kaurava princes and leading warriors become visibly distressed and mentally shaken, setting the stage for the next phase of command and conflict in Karṇa Parva.
