सच्छिन्नयष्टि: सुमहान् शीर्यमाणो महाध्वज: । पपात प्रमुखे राजन् युयुत्सो: काउ्चनध्वज:,राजन्! ध्वजका दण्ड कट जानेपर युयुत्सुका वह विशाल कांचनध्वज छिज्न-भिन्न हो उसके सामने ही गिर पड़ा
sacchinnayaṣṭiḥ sumahān śīryamāṇo mahādhvajaḥ | papāta pramukhe rājan yuyutsor kāñcanadhvajaḥ ||
サンジャヤは言った。「王よ、ユユツの大いなる黄金の旗は、旗竿を断たれ、布も裂けながら、彼の目前に倒れ落ちた。」
संजय उवाच
External signs of power—like a banner or standard—can be destroyed in an instant; the ethical test in war is steadiness of mind and adherence to one’s duty even when symbols of prestige and morale collapse.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Yuyutsu’s great golden standard, with its pole severed and the cloth tearing, fell down before him—an in-battle event often read as a portent affecting morale and perceived fortune.
