किरन्निषुगणांस्तीक्ष्णान् स रश्मीनिव भास्कर: । तापयामास तत् सैन्यं देहं व्याधिगणो यथा,जैसे रोगोंका समुदाय शरीरको संतप्त कर देता है, उसी प्रकार अर्जुनने कौरवोंकी उस सेनाको अत्यन्त संताप दिया। जैसे सूर्य अपनी प्रचण्ड किरणोंका प्रसार करते हैं, उसी प्रकार वे तीखे बाणसमूहोंकी वर्षा करने लगे
