यदि तद् विदितं तेडद्य श्वो हन्तासि जयद्रथम् | अथनज्ञातं प्रपद्यस्व मनसा वृषभध्वजम्,“यदि वह अस्त्र आज तुम्हें विदित हो तो तुम अवश्य कल जयद्रथको मार सकते हो और यदि तुम्हें उसका ज्ञान न हो तो मन-ही-मन भगवान् वृषभध्वज (शिव)-की शरण लो। धनंजय! तुम मनमें उन महादेवजीका ध्यान करते हुए चुपचाप बैठ जाओ। तब उनके दया- प्रसादसे तुम उनके भक्त होनेके कारण उस महान् अस्त्रको प्राप्त कर लोगे”
sañjaya uvāca | yadi tad viditaṃ te 'dya śvo hantāsi jayadratham | atha na jñātaṃ prapadyasva manasā vṛṣabhadhvajam ||
サンジャヤは言った。「もしその武器が今日すでに汝に知られているなら、明日、汝は必ずジャヤドラタを討てよう。だが、もし知らぬなら、心のうちに牡牛を旗印とする御方（ヴリシャバドヴァジャ、シヴァ）に帰依せよ。黙して座し、マハーデーヴァを観想せよ。汝はその信徒であるゆえ、慈悲の恩寵により、かの大いなる武器を得るであろう。」
