दिव्यं च ब्रह्मचर्येण लिड्रमस्य यथा स्थितम् । महयत्येष लोकांश्व महेश्वर इति स्मृत:,इनका दिव्य लिंग ब्रह्मचर्यसे स्थित है। ये सम्पूर्ण लोकोंको महिमान्वित करते हैं; इसलिये महेश्वर कहे गये हैं
divyaṃ ca brahmacaryeṇa liṅgam asya yathā sthitam | mahayaty eṣa lokāṃś ca maheśvara iti smṛtaḥ ||
ヴィヤーサは言った。彼のリンガ(liṅga)は神聖であり、完全なるブラフマチャリヤ(brahmacarya――清浄なる禁欲と霊的規律)によって確立されている。彼はあらゆる世界を輝かせ、支え保つ。ゆえに彼はマヘーシュヴァラ(Maheśvara)――偉大なる主と記憶される。
व्यास उवाच
The verse links inner discipline (brahmacarya) with spiritual authority: Śiva’s greatness is grounded in self-mastery, and that restraint becomes the source of his power to uplift and sustain the worlds—hence the epithet Maheśvara.
Vyāsa is describing and praising Śiva, emphasizing the divinity and established nature of his liṅga and explaining why he is called Maheśvara—because his presence and power glorify and uphold all realms.
