kṛtsnā hy akṣauhiṇī rājan savyasācī ca pāṇḍavaḥ
The verse underscores the immense scale of war and highlights Arjuna’s pivotal role; ethically, it points to the heavy responsibility borne by principal warriors when vast forces and countless lives are at stake.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra, indicating that a complete army-division is involved and that Arjuna (Savyasācī), the key Pāṇḍava warrior, is present—setting up or continuing a description of battlefield movements and engagements.
