वृकोदरस्तत: कर्ण त्रिभिर्भल्लै: समाहित: । आकर्णपूर्णरभ्यघ्नद् बाह्वोरुगसि चानदत्,तब भीमसेनने भी सावधान होकर धनुषको कानतक खींचकर छोड़े गये तीन भल्लोंद्वारा कर्णकी दोनों भुजाओं और छातीमें गहरी चोट पहुँचायी। फिर वे जोर-जोरसे गर्जना करने लगे
vṛkodaras tataḥ karṇa tribhir bhallaiḥ samāhitaḥ | ākarṇapūrṇam abhyaghnad bāhv-orugasi cānadat ||
サञ्जयは語った。「その後、ヴリコーダラ(ビーマ)はカルナに狙いを定め、弓を耳まで引き絞って鋭い矢を三本放ち、両腕と胸に深手を負わせた。打ち込んだのち、ビーマは大音声で咆哮した。」
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined focus (samāhita) and steadfast execution of one’s warrior-duty in a justly ordered battle context: skill and composure are as decisive as strength, and the roar signifies unwavering resolve rather than mere rage.
Bhīma (Vṛkodara) targets Karṇa, draws his bow fully, and hits him with three bhalla-arrows on both arms and the chest; immediately afterward, Bhīma roars loudly as a battle-cry, intensifying the duel’s pressure.
