पज्चालानां च संसक्त न प्राज्ञायत किंचन । अन्तकाक्रीडसदृशं भीरूणां भयवर्धनम्,कौरवों तथा पांचालोंके सारे विशाल सैन्य परस्पर मिलकर व्यग्र हो उठे थे। उस समय उनमेंसे किसी दलको अलग-अलग पहचाना नहीं जाता था। वह समरांगण यमराजका क्रीडास्थल-सा हो रहा था और कायरोंका भय बढ़ा रहा था
sañjaya uvāca | pāñcālānāṃ ca saṃsakte na prājñāyata kiṃcana | antakakrīḍasadṛśaṃ bhīrūṇāṃ bhayavardhanam ||
サञ्जयは語った。パンチャーラらが他の軍勢と密着して斬り結ぶと、もはや何ひとつ判別できなかった—隊形も、陣営の別も見えない。戦場は死そのものの遊戯の場のようで、臆病者の恐怖をただ増し加えた。
