The verse highlights the moral tension of war’s persistence: nature’s dawn is neutral and life-giving, yet human beings repeatedly choose to renew violence. It invites reflection on restraint (saṃyama) and the difficulty of returning to dharma once conflict has taken hold.
Sañjaya marks the transition to a new phase of fighting: with sunrise and the world illuminated, the armies re-engage and the battle resumes for the day.
