तत: कर्णो महाराज प्रेषयामास सायकान् | सुवर्णपुड्खाउछत्रुघ्नान् खेचरान् राक्षसान् प्रति,महाराज! तदनन्तर कर्णने उन आकाशबचारी राक्षसोंको लक्ष्य करके सोनेके पंखवाले बहुत-से शत्रुनाशक बाण चलाये
tataḥ karṇo mahārāja preṣayāmāsa sāyakān | suvarṇapuṅkhān śatrughnān khecarān rākṣasān prati ||
サンジャヤは言った。「それからカルナは、王よ、金の羽根を備え敵を滅ぼす数多の矢を放ち、天空を駆ける羅刹たちを狙い撃った。戦の道義が支配するこの場において、この句はカルナの揺るがぬ武の決意を示す。超常の脅威に対しても彼はためらわず、ただちに強烈な行動で応じ、空より襲う者をも戦場の正当な敵として扱ったのである。」
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights decisive kṣatriya conduct in battle: when confronted by hostile forces—even extraordinary, aerial rākṣasas—a warrior is expected to act promptly and effectively, maintaining resolve and protecting his side without wavering.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Karṇa begins shooting many golden-feathered, enemy-killing arrows at rākṣasas who are moving through the sky, indicating an intense phase of combat against aerial opponents.
