नि:ःशब्दमासीत् सहसा पुन: शब्दों महानभूत् । क्रुद्धानां युध्यमानानां जीयतां जयतामपि,क्रोधमें भरकर युद्ध करते हुए पराजित एवं विजयी होनेवाले योद्धाओंका शब्द वहाँ सहसा बंद होकर कभी सन्नाटा छा जाता था और कभी पुनः महान् कोलाहल होने लगता था
niḥśabdam āsīt sahasā punaḥ śabdo mahān abhūt | kruddhānāṃ yudhyamānānāṃ jīyatāṃ jayatām api ||
サンジャヤは言った。たちまち完全な静寂が訪れ、そして再び大いなる轟きが起こった。怒りに燃えて戦う武者たちの中で—敗れる者も勝つ者も—喧噪は不意に途絶え、またたく間に再び渦巻いた。
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the volatility of war driven by krodha (anger): even the battlefield’s soundscape swings between sudden silence and overwhelming uproar, suggesting how quickly human control collapses under passion and how outcomes (victory/defeat) shift moment by moment.
Sañjaya describes the battlefield atmosphere: as enraged warriors clash, the noise of combat sometimes abruptly dies into eerie silence and then returns as a massive din, reflecting the chaotic ebb and flow of fighting among both victors and the defeated.
