Educational Q&A

The verse highlights that in dharma-yuddha the immediate obligation is to restrain destructive force through disciplined collective action. Even a revered teacher (Droṇa) and a celebrated warrior (Karṇa) must be resisted when they stand as adversaries; ethical tension is managed by emphasizing duty, order, and strategic restraint rather than personal hatred.

Sañjaya reports that two warriors (implied by “we two”) are coordinating the entire army into proper battle formations, fully armed, with the aim of obstructing and pushing back Droṇa and Karṇa, who are exerting great pressure on the battlefield.
