vivyadhuḥ somakās tūrṇaṃ samantāc charavṛṣṭibhiḥ | tatra droṇo 'harat prāṇān kṣatriyāṇāṃ viśāmpate ||
サンジャヤは言った。ソーマカたちは四方より矢の雨を浴びせ、たちまちに打ちかかった。そこではドローナがクシャトリヤたちの命を奪っていた、民の主よ――戦の陰惨な推進力の姿である。戦場の武勇と義務は、容赦なき殺戮へと変じてゆく。
संजय उवाच

Seeing Droṇa cutting down warriors, the Somakas counterattack immediately, surrounding him and wounding him with concentrated volleys of arrows, while Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Droṇa is taking the lives of many kṣatriyas.
