Śiva’s Battlefield Manifestation and Vyāsa’s Śatarudrīya Exposition (शिवप्रादुर्भावः शतरुद्रीयव्याख्यानम्)
tān nivārya śarais tūrṇaṃ dhṛṣṭadyumno mahārathaḥ

Even amid violence, a warrior-leader is expected to act with controlled skill—restraining an enemy advance efficiently to protect allies. The emphasis is on disciplined performance of duty rather than uncontrolled aggression.
Sañjaya reports that Dhṛṣṭadyumna quickly counters and checks opposing fighters by shooting arrows, halting their momentum in the ongoing battle episode of the Droṇa Parva.
