Drauṇi’s Vow and the Description of the Nārāyaṇāstra
sañjaya uvāca | tathāḍūḍair nipatitair vyarājata vasuṃdharā | prāvṛṭ-kāle mahārāja vidyudbhir iva toyadaḥ ||
The verse highlights the irony of war: symbols of valor and status (bright armlets) become debris on the ground. Beauty can appear even in devastation, reminding the listener of impermanence and the moral cost behind martial glory.
Sañjaya describes the battlefield to Dhṛtarāṣṭra. The ground is strewn with fallen, shining armlets, and their glitter makes the earth look like a monsoon cloud illuminated by lightning.
