Hearing the reproach of Droṇa and the Sātyaki–Pārṣata dispute
athainaṃ niśitair bāṇaiḥ śatru-bhir bharatarṣabha | pārtho ’vidhyad rākṣasendraṃ sa viddhaḥ prādravad bhayāt bharataśreṣṭha ||
The verse highlights a battlefield moral: when confronted by destructive, terror-driven force, a righteous warrior acts decisively and skillfully to restrain it. Fear and flight follow for the aggressor once his violence is met with firm resistance.
Sañjaya reports that Arjuna shoots the rākṣasa leader (identified in the prose as Alambuṣa) with sharp arrows. Wounded by Arjuna’s attack, the demon-king panics and runs away from the fight.
