Droṇavadha-saṃniveśaḥ — The Convergence Toward Droṇa’s Fall
Book 7, Chapter 164
yo 'sya sṛṣṭo vināśāya sa evainaṃ haniṣyati | parivarjya guruṃ yāhi yatra rājā suyodhanaḥ ||
The verse highlights a tension between destiny and human choice: destruction comes through the very agent ‘brought forth’ for it, yet the listener is urged to act decisively—prioritizing immediate duty to the king over continued attachment to the guru. It raises ethical questions about loyalty, authority, and the limits of obedience in wartime.
Sañjaya reports a directive: the one destined/produced to cause a warrior’s downfall will be the killer, and the addressed person is told to leave the preceptor and go to King Suyodhana (Duryodhana). The line functions as strategic counsel within the unfolding crisis of the Kurukṣetra war.
