द्रोणपर्व — अध्याय १६२: प्रातःसंध्यायां युद्धप्रवृत्तिः तथा रजोमेघे संमूढता
सिंहेनेवार्दिता गावो विद्रविष्यन्ति सर्वश: । “आज पांचाल और सोमक योद्धा मेरे बाणोंसे दग्ध होकर सिंहसे पीड़ित हुई गौओंके समान सब ओर भाग जायँगे
siṁhenewārditā gāvo vidraviṣyanti sarvaśaḥ |
サンジャヤは言った。「獅子に追い立てられた牛の群れのように、彼らは四方へ散り散りに逃げ惑うであろう。」
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how terror and overwhelming aggression can dissolve order and courage, turning even organized fighters into a scattered herd; it implicitly warns that war often operates through fear as much as through valor.
Sañjaya describes the impending flight and confusion of forces under severe attack, using the image of cows stampeding in all directions when a lion strikes.
