Night Exhaustion and Brief Pause in Battle
saṃjaya uvāca | somadattaḥ punaḥ kruddho dṛṣṭvā sātyakim āhave | mahatā śaravarṣeṇa cchādayāmāsa bhārata ||
The verse highlights how anger (krodha) fuels escalation in warfare: once provoked, a warrior may abandon restraint and intensify violence, reminding readers that ethical clarity is easily clouded when wrath dominates.
Sanjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Somadatta, seeing Sātyaki in the fight, becomes enraged again and overwhelms him by covering him with a heavy barrage of arrows.
